In the last 75 years of independence, we have seen 14 state assembly elections, 17 Lok Saba elections, and many by-elections. It has turned out that casting a vote has been more detrimental to the nation than a boon in all these elections. We've seen an increase in poverty, deaths caused by improper healthcare, corruption, unemployment, failure of governance, law and order, discrimination, loss of liveable land, flora, fauna, forests, rivers, mountains, climate, education, and more with every election. Have any lives or sections of this land not suffered because the wrong people were elected as leaders?
Every time a politician gets elected his or her and associates are the only ones who benefit. The wealth of these people is rising to millions and billions. Politicians who have been defeated are also benefiting, since all the political parties have a mutual understanding between them. In addition, even the media is influencing the public to choose only between these political parties and ignore their rights and demands.
Unless voters are given a say in policymaking and participation in welfare activities, elections become a business of money-making and abuse of power. Victims are bound to suffer regardless of which politician or party they vote for.
With an understanding of the importance and impact of elections, a group of well-educated professionals with high social consciousness formed Peoples Manifesto Foundation in 2014 with the goal of
The goal of the project is to enable citizens to voice their village/city, community, and family concerns through creating people’s manifestos, opinion polls, and discussion forums.
To educate citizens and civil society on the importance of electing efficient and welfare-friendly representatives as MLAs, MPs, Sarpanch, etc, to their constituencies and on exercising their right to vote ethically and without selling their votes for freebies, money, liquor, or gifts
To facilitate the involvement of citizens from all ages and sects in community welfare activities as a cohesive team regardless of their region, race and religion
